A cycling event has been launched in Shantou to promote the 2021 Asian Youth Games.

To participate, riders are required to sign up online, finish a route of 20.21 kilometers from a location they choose, and send the route to the WeChat account of the city’s outdoor sports association.

The event, themed “cheer for Shantou Asian Youth Games,” is jointly organized by the association and the city’s rehabilitation association for children with special needs. It started May 1 and will last for a month. The deadline for signing up is today, May 27. By May 20, over 100 groups of cycling enthusiasts from across China had signed up for the event.

According to Lin Tongzhou, head of the outdoor sports association, the event is organized online to avoid gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apart from promoting the Games, the event also aims at calling attention to children with autism.
