Three sightseeing routes in Shantou have been selected as part of the first batch of 64 historical and cultural routes in Guangdong Province, according to a list released May 11 by the provincial culture and tourism department, Shantou Olive Channel reported.

The 64 routes encompass a total of 461 tourist attractions that feature local revolutionary historical relics and cultural heritage from the three primary streams of Guangdong culture, including Guangfu culture, Chaoshan culture and Hakka culture.

The three routes in Shantou include an ancient village route from Xidi Park to Lianhua Village, and another route that starts from Shantou Port-opening Culture Exhibition Hall to Shantou Museum features museums, memorial halls and historical relics. The third route features local revolutionary historical relics such as Hongchang Town in Chaonan District and includes a cemetery for over 10,000 people killed in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
