DanceSport (Breaking) refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a variety of styles, such as locking, which originated in the U.S. in the 1960s.
The acrobatic sport involves a variety of moves, including stretches, twists, turns and grooves of the head, the neck, the shoulders, the arms and the body. It highlights the coordination between different parts of the body as well as the moves of each individual part.
It was introduced to China in the 1980s and has gradually grown popular in the country since then.
