Construction work of the venues of the 3rd Asian Youth Games has been accelerated as there are fewer than 280 days to go until the opening ceremony of the Games, the Shantou Olive Channel reported.

The original supporting structures of the grandstand of the Shantou People's Stadium were taken down on the first day after the Chinese New Year holiday.

Workers at the Chaoshan Stadium have started installing the keels of the curtain walls and the decoration work of the stadium's basement.

"The installation of aluminum plates in the next step will involve double curved panels, which will pose challenges to their positioning and installation. That's where we'll pay more attention," said Liu Lei, safety supervisor of the renovation project of the Shantou People's Stadium.

Renovation of the Zhengda Stadium has entered the final phase. After renovation, the stadium will be used for the badminton events of the Games. It covers an area of over 40,000 square meters and will be able to accommodate more than 3,000 audience members.

According to He Jiehong, who is responsible for the engineering techniques of the renovation, inspection and examination of the project will be held after the Spring Festival.
