The 2nd Asian Youth Games was held in Nanjing, China from Aug. 16 to 24, 2013. The closing ceremony was held on Aug. 24.

The 2013 Asian Youth Games saw over 2,400 athletes aged 14 to 17 from 44 countries and regions. They competed in 122 sporting events under 16 categories. China topped the gold medal table and medals table in total with 46 gold medals, 23 silver medals and 24 bronze medals.

Sporting events
There were 122 sporting events under 16 categories including aquatics, athletics, badminton, basketball (basketball 3X3), fencing, football, golf, handball, judo, rugby, shooting, squash, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis and weightlifting.

Venues
There were a total of 27 sports venues including 19 for competition and training, and eight for training only. Nanjing utilized its quality venue resources and didn’t need to build new venues or athlete village for the games.
